The couple wed yesterday, April 30, in a small ceremony on an island and it was "very implusive," according to our source. The wedding was attended by a few close friends of the couple, including Da Brat.

An additional source close to Carey now confirms that the couple married at a home the singer recently purchased in Eleuthera, The Bahamas. "They have been smitten with each other for days, weeks...and she's always had a crush on him," the source tells the New York Post. "There was no pre-nup--there wasn't time," dishes another source.
Carey, 38, and Cannon, 27, have been dating for just two months, and rumors began to swirl that the couple was engaged when Carey arrived to the April 26 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her new movie, Tennessee, wearing a huge ring on her left finger. Though speculation arose that the ring previously belonged to Cannon's former fianceé, model Selita Ebanks, People now reports that the rings are not the same.

Mariah Carey and actor Nick Cannon are engaged.
Mariah put a massive rock on display on her left-hand ring finger at the after party for her new movie Tennessee at the TriBeCa Film Festival in NYC this past weekend.
The engagement ring was later identified as the same ring Nick gave his former fiance, Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks.
Nick was previously engaged to Selita from May to October 2007.
A source close to Cannon’s ex-fiance, Selita confirms “That IS the same ring.”
Mariah, 38-years-old, has been quietly dating Nick, 27-years-old, for a few months now.
When People magazine asked Cannon what he loved about Carey, he said “Everything!”
Seems like Nick Cannon didn’t want to put the ring to a waste after Selita returned it to him and reused it on 11-years his senior Mariah Carey.

Oh, that Paula Abdul! Always good for a laugh--even if they are all at her expense.
So, last night on "American Idol" each of the remaining 5 contestants had to sing two Neil Diamond songs. Because the show is only an hour, Ryan Seacrest hauled them out like cattle after they all sang their first song and had the judges do a quickie critique. Paula does her thing, but one problem: she gives feedback to Jason Castro on two songs. Which means one of two things: the show is scripted beyond belief--which could account for Ryan's semi-flustered "you're seeing the future, baby" comment--or Paula was late taking her meds. Or early. Could go either way there.
Paula claimed she got mixed up (shocking!) and that her second song comments were really meant for David Cook's first song. Of course that doesn't explain why her first reaction was "I thought you sang twice" when called on her blunder. Doh!
I swear, though, it made my night watching this. I love the shot of the contestants on stage as she's talking. You know they're all thinking "Huh?" That crazy pillhead really does bring the unintentional comedy gold, that's for sure.
