Sandra Bullock Helps Save the Earth – with Candles


Some environmentalists advocate recycling. Others suggest driving hybrid cars. Sandra Bullock is doing her part for the environment with a line of soy wax candles.

The actress taped an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show – scheduled to air Tuesday – to commemorate Earth Day. During her time with Oprah Winfrey, the actress revealed, "I started researching and you find out about lead wicks and chemicals in your candles." Her solution? To use soy wax, which is a "renewable resource."

Said Winfrey: "Sandra's in the earth-friendly candle making business," prompting a laugh from the actress who joked: "Yeah, [it's] something to fall back on."

Hollywood star Sandra Bullock is doing her bit to save the environment. She is launching a range of eco-friendly candles. Sandra unveiled her wax creations on an episode of Oprah Winfrey’s talk show today, Earth Day in the U.S.

She revealed how she developed the line of candles using soy wax, after learning all about the chemicals that are normally used in their production.

She explained, "I started researching and you find out about lead wicks and chemicals in your candles. (Soy wax) is a renewable resource." Sandra is very happy with her new hobby, she joked that it could provide her with a second career: "(It’s) something to fall back on."
